Meet Alpine and Forest.

Two bottles, one filter. Alpine is the full kit with the sensor cap and the UV stage. Forest is the same steel body with the mechanical filter alone.

The filter
A hollow-fibre membrane with pores a fifth of a micron across, then a UV-C stage that finishes what the membrane lets through. Tested on glacier melt, monsoon runoff and a tap in Delhi.

The cap
A load cell, a thermometer and a low-power radio in a sealed steel housing. It learns how much you drink on a hot day and how much you forget on a cold one.

The body
One piece of drawn steel, no seam to fail, with a powder coat that scratches instead of chips. Twenty years on, it should look used and work new.
